EPR Properties Acquires Assets Of Wintergreen Resort ~ Pacific Group Resorts to lease and operate Wintergreen

Wintergreen Resort has been sold to EPR Properties and Pacific Group Resorts has been tapped to operate the resort.  EPR is a publicly traded company (ticker symbol EPR) with market capitalization of $3.9B.  Pacific Group Resorts also owns Ragged Mountain in New Hampshire, and worked in concert with EPR to acquire Wisp Resort in Western Maryland in 2012.   PGRI (an affiliate of Pacific Group) has a broad base of experience in mountain resort operations and in the master planning and development of ski resorts.  Pacific Group Resorts (PGRI) now operates three ski and snowboard resorts and four golf courses, and senior management of the company has a combined 60 years of executive or ownership experience in the industry.  Follow the link below for the complete press release.

  1. Interesting. We have been watching Wintergreen closely for many years, dating back to 2007 when a child was going to school in Harrisonburg. Last couple of years were fuzzy with the changes in ownership. Took a close look several years ago however the fee structure for amenities troubled me. My wife and I rent a condo with our children up there at least twice a year and will watch how the initiation and yearly fees wash out this time! Keep me on your updates.

Hank Thiess, General Manager for Wintergreen Resort, wrote this excerpt in an email to Wintergreen property owner’s this morning, “… they [Pacific Group Resorts] are committed to retaining the membership programs. Fees and privileges will remain unchanged throughout the 2015 membership year, and they are already studying ways to improve the member and guest experiences at Wintergreen.”
